NEON Bar & Arcade
To match the theme of a retro arcade with neon lights, boxy CRT TVs were used to create a focal point that is visible when people walk down the stairs.
These designs were made in Photoshop to emulate a colorful static tv glitch, and were kept loose to compliment the colorful and wiggly designs of the neon lights.
This repeating pattern was made in Photoshop and is used to make the busy, colorful, and fun carpet. A style often found in arcades, roller rinks, and bowling alleys.
The arcade machine UVs were designed in Photoshop. The names come from real video games that have come into public domain.
The neon signs are in bright, playful colors in simple shapes and lines to compliment the playful nature of an arcade space.
The space is lit entirely by colored lightboxes and neon signs to create the feeling of a club, while avoiding the dimness of one. Keeping the space bright and colorful enhances the nostalgic feeling of an arcade, while also being practical so people don't drop and lose their tokens and tickets.
This project taught me a lot about lighting using Arnold. I used many different Arnold light sources, and experimented with which light source would work best for the neon light look. It also taught me about scene composition and how to create a space that flows and works together.
